Farmhouse Preschool Programme
We at Farmhouse Preschool and Nursery are proud of the program that is developed to support tamariki at all stages in life. We have four separate classrooms catering to the ages and stages of each individual child. Please enquire or come pop in to visit the amazing facilities we have to offer.
Our Nursery room provides education and care for our youngest tamariki. The nursery is primarily based around the individual care routines for each tamaiti, as at this stage in life we believe it is important to following the queues of whanau and the tamariki themselves to ensure their whole wellbeing is the primary focus. We support tamariki at this stage with developing bonds with our phenomenal kaiako, which allowed tamariki to feel confident and competent within the learning environment. We entwine numeracy, science and literacy in a fun way through exploring a variety of messy play, stacking, building, arts and climbing. Tamariki have the choice in what they would like to participate in and have a range of age appropriate activities they can freely access.
Within Room 3 tamariki take the lead with their learning journeys and are being supported to explore and extend themselves within their mahi. We often will explore science concepts such as creating erupting volcanoes in the sandpit, math concepts through water play and literacy by having exciting activities where tamariki can start to recognize the letters in their names just to name a few. Tamariki love exploring the farm and collecting eggs to create delicious snacks and baking while learning about the life cycle of the natural world. Horse riding is also threaded throughout the program, it is wonderful seeing the confidence of tamariki from their first experience with horse riding to becoming confident and knowing.
Room 4 is where our oldest tamariki get to master their skills they have been exploring throughout their entire learning journeys at Farmhouse Preschool and Nursery. Within this room we support tamariki to become responsible young leaders who can support younger tamariki and their peers when needed. We have a strong Montessori feel within this classroom as fostering independence and selfcare such as looking after their belongings is what local schools have suggested they would like new entrants to be working on. Free play is seen throughout the entire day with kaiako their to support tamariki to achieve in all areas they are interested in. Kaiako listen to tamariki idea’s and follow their lead in what they are wanting to learn and create. In any given day you will see tamariki playing group games outside, sitting in reading nooks and creating wonderful masterpieces using recycled materials.
The tamariki in Room 2 are all about finding themselves and developing self help skills, to support the independence that our toddlers truly desire. We incorporate a variety of activities as well as support the tamariki to feed and nurture our animals. These interactions encourage tamariki to understand a sense of empathy and understanding which fosters strong beautiful relationships with their peers and kaiako. Within this classroom tamariki have more of a structured routine as this allows tamariki to explore themes such as listening and following direction. Free play is still at the heart of this classroom where tamariki get to move freely inside and out and explore all activities and resources to what they see fits.
